Our team’s ability to anticipate challenges, address critical details early, and streamline every phase has made us a go-to partner for some of the most complex, high-performance environments in the industry.
From production kitchens and tech manufacturing plants to bio/life sciences facilities and distribution warehouses, our portfolio showcases the precision, efficiency, and quality that keep industrial leaders coming back to Gateway.
WE'RE QUALIFIED.
Gateway’s extensive safety credentials—including Avetta and ISN certifications, OSHA 10/30-Hour training, and First Aid/CPR/AED certification—demonstrate a proven commitment to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and risk management for industrial and manufacturing projects. These qualifications ensure streamlined prequalification, reduced client risk, and jobsites that operate with precision, minimal disruption, and uncompromising safety from start to finish.
Gateway’s Avetta and ISN certifications affirm our commitment to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and contractor performance—providing clients with confidence that every project is managed by a thoroughly vetted, industry-approved partner. By meeting rigorous requirements for safety, insurance, financial stability, and regulatory compliance, we streamline prequalification, reduce risk, and eliminate administrative hurdles. These third-party verifications ensure our practices align with corporate and legal standards, supporting safe, efficient jobsites and reinforcing Gateway’s reputation as a trusted partner delivering with integrity, precision, and accountability.
Gateway’s registration in SAP—along with our ISN and Avetta certifications—demonstrates our readiness to meet the rigorous onboarding, compliance, and operational standards of major corporations. Familiar with complex enterprise systems used by global conglomerates, we navigate requirements efficiently, ensuring our clients experience a seamless start to every project. By aligning with these platforms, we reduce administrative delays, accelerate vendor approval, and provide the confidence that Gateway can integrate smoothly into even the most sophisticated corporate environments.
At Gateway Building Company, our team’s OSHA 10- and 30-Hour certifications demonstrate a deep, proactive commitment to jobsite safety—protecting both our crews and our clients’ investments. These nationally recognized programs provide comprehensive training on hazard recognition, prevention, and regulatory compliance, equipping our staff to identify risks early, implement best practices, and maintain safe, efficient work environments. For our clients, this translates into fewer project disruptions, minimized liability, and the confidence that every phase of construction is executed with safety and quality as top priorities.
Gateway’s First Aid/CPR/AED-certified team members bring an added layer of safety and preparedness to every project site. This training ensures our staff can respond quickly and effectively to medical emergencies, protecting not only our crews but also clients, visitors, and the surrounding community. By prioritizing health and safety beyond OSHA requirements, Gateway reinforces its commitment to minimizing risks, maintaining uninterrupted project progress, and fostering a secure environment— giving clients the confidence that their project is in capable, well-prepared hands.
Our History
With deep ties to Durham construction, starting with George W. Kane Construction in 1974 and then Mixon Construction in 1988, Jack Moore founded Gateway Building Company in 2013. He wanted to develop a construction company that was based on its people, collaboration instead of hierarchy, and where he could hang up his suit and wear his jeans every day! Jack wanted to be in the heart of Durham and located the headquarters downtown. Gateway was THE downtown contractor, growing with the city, and has now expanded to the Triangle and its tertiary markets including RTP, Chatham, Person, Wake, Alamance, Johnston, Orange, Franklin, Moore, and Vance Counties.
Gateway was at the forefront of creating a boutique, friendly, open, honest team that would take on creative projects. Client focused. Value focused.
Our Evolution
High visibility jobs in downtown enabled us to grow quickly in multiple markets. Whether it was restaurants like Nanasteak and Pie Pushers, Institutional jobs with Duke University, or many of the downtown storefronts in the Triangle, Gateway established a strong reputation. Through an entirely organic referral system, job number and size increased steadily year over year. Our work began to speak for itself as we grew; repeat clients and developers followed along. We've experienced a vast range of project types and learned how to tackle each and every one.
Our Future
The mission stays the same - honest, value-driven, high-quality work. We work with a diverse clientele from local business to national brands, providing excellent customer service and refreshing, honest, quality work.
